I sent an email to Sig and requested a dialog with someone that is involved with the P250 so we could ask questions directly from them instead of relying on rumors. To my surprise, not only did I get a reply from a customer service rep, but she got in touch with the VP of Marketing, Bud Fini, and he also sent me an email. He is currently in Germany but I will be getting in touch with him again when he returns at the end of the month.

So if you have any specific questions, post them here. Please keep it to the P250.

Here is what I will ask:

1. I would like the part numbers for all the items for the P250.
2. What is the timeline for all the caliber kits to be released?
3. Will they offer to sell the colored frame kits (digital camo, etc)?
4. Will they fly me to the headquarters to take the P250 armorer course (not counting on this one, BigGrin ).

I will post as questions come to me.

1.) Please elaborate on the flat-top barrel change over. When was it done and why? If it is a performance/reliability issue, can those with flat-tops get a free upgrade?
2.) What is the final verdict on the magazines? Are they 15 round or 16 round? What are you going to sell going forward?
3.) Are they even going to hold a 250 Armorer's course any time soon?? I keep checking...as NH is not too far from me.

Cool cool ... I want one! I also read on the Sig forum that the P250 .40 Conversion Kits are shipping. They are selling for $369.00 with one .40 S&W magazine, but they didn't provide a link to back it up, so I hope it's true.

My dealer tried to order a short trigger on a P250 and he was told it's not available yet.

That is TOO funny! When emailed them last week the response was "not available". Now it's on their website. Even funnier: $14.95 to ship a 4 oz. $35 item. Are you kidding? LOL

Oh, well, in that case, I'll get the $35 short trigger and 65 "Got Sig?" stickers...I'm all about the free shipping...

Here's another question for sig:
When are you coming out with the "Got P250 Conversions?" sticker....?
Or:
"Got P250 Stovepipes?"
"Got P250 16 round magazines?"
"Got P250 .45acp subcompact?"

Sorry, my wife must be PMS'ing... haha!

Got some answers to our questions today:

1. I would like the part numbers for all the items for the P250.

A: I will get you an accessory parts list. For the other parts just reference the owners manual- internal part numbers change to often so we do not give them out.

2. What is the timeline for all the caliber kits to be released?

A: I'm going out on a limb here, but we are shipping .40 cal's now and expect to ship .45's by late Nov. or Dec. The .357 Sig is easier than the .45 so my best guess is that by the end of the 1 St. quarter all calibers should be available for Shipment. MY guess that would go for the grips as well.

3. Will they offer to sell the colored frame kits (digital camo, etc)?

A: I do not see why we wouldn't, since we have already done a gun, the 9mm compact, in dessert camo. Just need more time to make all the options available before getting side-tracked on too many other variations.

4. Will you make any other colors in the frames (solid colors for training or any other patterns) and sell them as accessories.

A: By frames I think you mean grips, and so the same answer to question 3 applies here.

5. Please elaborate on the flat-top barrel change over. When was it done and why? If it is a performance/reliability issue, can those with flat-tops get a free upgrade?

A: It was done as an enhancement when we developed the .40 caliber, and so for in-house simplicity we decide to make them all the same. There are no issues with the 9mm flat-top models so we will not exchange them at no charge.

6. What is the final verdict on the magazines? Are they 15 round or 16 round? What are you going to sell going forward?

A: They are 15 rounds. Some of the early models had German magazines supplied and they held 17. All guns produced today have 15 Rd mags.

7. Are they even going to hold a 250 Armorer's course any time soon?? I keep checking...as NH is not too far from me.

A: Here's the problem - the P250 is so simple and easy to work on the Academy is having a hard time devising a full days curriculum. Hopefully they will come up with something interesting and worth while to make it a one day course.

I would like to thank Mr. Fini for answering these questions. Hopefully we will get the accessory part list and I will post it in the Accessories section. If you have any more questions, post them here and I will send them on. I would like to get at least 3 questions before I forward them to him. Don't want to bug him with a question at a time.

Hey, as soon as you get this parts list, could you post a copy here?

Thanks.

I will post it in the Accessories section, per my post above. I think it would be better posted there.

Is it true that the trigger bar spring has been redesigned, and if so, should owners upgrade their old trigger bar springs to avoid problems?

Hawk, would it be possible to get an answer to why some owners experience light primer strikes? Is it a known issue, or is the issue handled on a case-by-case basis? Is there a specific cause, and if so, what's the fix?

Thanks a bunch for the info you've already provided, and please extend my thanks to Mr. Fini.

i ordered(pre-order) the 40 s&w conversion kit and extra mags last week. i just got notice in the mail today that the mags have shipped. so if the rumor about kits not available because of a mag shortage is true then maybe they are getting caught up and the kits may start shipping soon. i can only hope and cross my fingers.

UPS showed up today with my order of 40/357 mags while i was on the phone with Sig. i had called them to get a tracking number on a range bag i ordered and thought i'd check on the conversion kit since i had them on the phone. so here goes. as per jason, sig should have the 40 kits shipping by the end of this month. currently they dont have a part number for the two tone kit, only the nitron black finish. he wouldnt comment on any of the other kits and when they would be available. oh well. with a little luck i'll be testing ammo for the 40 by xmas.

Here are the questions I sent and the answers I recieved from Mr. Fini:

1. Would it be possible to get an answer to why some owners experience light primer strikes?
2. Is it a known issue, or is the issue handled on a case-by-case basis?
3. Is there a specific cause, and if so, what's the fix?
Question 1-3 response: All semi auto pistols have multiple potential causes of light indents. In the case of the P250, there is no systemic problem causing light indents. Any customer's guns with a problem is assessed and corrected on a case by case basis.

4. When is the time-line for the accessory frame (grip module) in colors going to be available?
There are no colors planned for accessory modules. We made a run of P250's in camo but they were all compact medium grip modules. If owners want to change they will have to go back to black.

This is different than what he sent before to the first round of questions, and personally, disappointing - Hawk

5. There have been several reports of the slide not locking open when the magazine empties. Can you elaborate on this?
From what I've observed here, even with very capable shooters, is that when they are shooting a grip that is too small for them their thumb is depressing the slide release lever, and as a result it cannot travel to the up position to lock the slide.
