Alright, you guys can go ahead and razz me on this one.
I go to the range once a week and shoot 200 rounds. Sometimes more, but usually 200. Now, a note about my grip: My support hand thumb rests squarely on the takedown lever. Remember that…
What I’ve noticed over the last several trips is that at about the 100 round mark, the takedown level starts to get hot. 50 rounds later it’s uncomfortable to touch. That last 50 rounds or so are just all over the map because my grip is compromised – my thumb is desperately looking for a place to sit anywhere BUT on the takedown lever.
On a different occasion I shot 400 rounds in a session. At about the 300-350 round mark, the trigger was also uncomfortably hot.
So while other people were polishing their components, I was looking to cover mine to help insulate my fingers from the heat.
So I dipped the exposed parts of my takedown lever and trigger in Black Plasti-Dip. Man, they came out AWESOME. That stuff is great. It was a nice coating, a dull lustre sheen, and added a bit of "grip" to the components too. I was excited.
Unfortunately Hoppe's dissolves Plasti-Dip on contact...
It was a horror scene...melted plastic everywhere...
