If you keep ammo in the magazines for a period of time, does it make the spring weak? Is it recommended to take the bullets out of the magazine for a day or two to save the spring?

This is something that everyone has thier own thoughts and veiws on this subject.
From what I have read, it doesnt matter how long you leave your mags full it will not weaken the spring or danage the mag.

Now someone like my Father in Law will tell you that he carrys 3 mags for his .380 and that there is no more than 5 round in each mag. Even tho full compacity is a total of 8 rounds. He will say that loading to full and never emptying them will weaken the spring.

Heres antother thing to look at, if for some reason I do weaken a mag spring, I could always buy another one cheaper than I could buy a life.

From a physics point of view, as long as you don't exceed the design limits of the spring, it will not wear out. Good quality springs are the key, not all are created equal. I have a 70 year old Mauser rifle with the original spring that funtions perfectly.
