I mentioned rounding off the edges to Steve, or trying some oil in strategic places. The oil didn't work so I'll try the roundover.

I don't think Steve blues them. But you could do it yourself with a cold bluing touch up kit,
like this one from Brownell's. You could also use it to touch up your barrel, which I'm sure looks streaky and smilie by now too...but it won't last on the barrel.
As far as the name, it does have a blue/black hue, and I guess "Bluing" sounds smoother than "Blacking"...who knows!!
