I'm fairly new to handguns and joined a gun club recently to learn more. After renting about a dozen different guns and taking a couple classes I settled on the P250. I'm an engineer and loved the whole modular design. I also loved the simplicity of the P250 and I was the most accurate with it. I wanted a couple of guns to be able to take friends to the club and to have a nightstand gun and a carry gun. So I bought the P250 2Sum and ordered the P250 Compact, so I will have two FCUs and three frames and can configure any two guns I want for the moment (all 9mm to start). I've enjoyed shooting both the Full and Subcompact, and was surprised that the recoil on the Subcompact was not much more than the Full. In fact I think I was more accurate with the Subcompact on the first day. I can't wait to take all three to the range and try them out side-by-side. I've been shooting Speer Lawman FMJ ammo I got for $13/box from AmmoToGo and Federal FMJ from Walmart for $9.50/box and have not had a problem with either gun yet.

I also picked up the rail mount Barska GLX Green Laser for about $90 and am impressed with it so far (for the price), although I have not tried it on the range yet. Just dry fired around the house and yard, but it seemed very well constructed and easy to operate and sight in.

I have a couple questions for you P250 old-timers:

1. The gun club had two P250Cs in stock but they were the old style and I wanted the new style to match my PSum guns. They contacted Sig, and Sig is sending them a new style grip and two new style mags to upgrade the gun they have in stock. My 2Sum is an EAK serial # and has the newer FCU with the tabs. Is there an interchangeability issue or performance issue if the P250C they upgrade has the older style FCU without the extra tabs?

2. I'm going to order some large grips for the Full Size gun for a friend that has large hands, but I would like to get those in Desert Camo, so I know at a glance what grips I have on the gun. Can the Camo grips be purchased anywhere? I can't seem to find them. Likewise when I decide to get .40cal exchange kit I will get those in Nickel since all my 9mm is Nitron and again I can tell at a glance what caliber I have on the gun (at least that is my plan--we will see what is available when the time comes).

Enjoying my new P250s. What a great concept and a great gun to shoot.BigGrin

Welcome to the Forum. I haven't seen any of the digital camo grip forsale ( not that isn't already attached to a pistol ) nor have I heard of any issues interchanging parts, but if there is folks here will know.

Welcome. Try the Sig STL900L for the fullsized. IMHO the addition of a tac light helps control and accuracy, but I shoot 40 so there is a bit more snap spacially in the compact. My fullsized has the STL900L and my compact has a TLR3. Enjoy them and post a range report as soon as you can.

I did have two minor issues with the 2Sum my first time on the range. I put 50 rounds through the Full and the Subcompact. With the Full the slide did not lock open on empty for 4 of the 5 mags (loaded 10 rounds in the same mag each time). With the Subcompact there was a little click at the end of pushing the mag release, like it was catching on something. I mentioned both of these to the guy behind the counter who I had just bought the guns from and he said 1) don't worry about the small stuff until I put 500 rounds through the gun and 2) go home and clean all the factory grease out of the gun, re-oil and apply Brian Enos Slide-Glide Lite to the slide rails (the recommended slide lube at this shop).

Well I cleaned and lubed as recommended and did not have a problem with the slide locking open on empty the next time at the range. I also removed the mag release on the subcompact and reassembled and the clicking problem went away on the mag release. I must say removing the mag release and reassembling was a chore the first time, but now that I've done it once it should be very simple. The problem with dis-assembly was there is a small finger nail catch on the back of the rear side of the slide release. You have to pull out on that while inserting the paper clip. The manual does not really explain that. Then when you go to reassemble, its not exactly clear where the mag release spring goes. If you just stare at the inside of the mag release, it is not obvious. But inside the grip there is a small knob that holds one end of the spring. So the spring goes against the thumb press side and when you push it in it is stopped by the knob in the grip. Again the manual does not explain how to put the spring back in, but once you know its very simple.

I also ordered a small trigger and swapped it with the standard trigger in the FCU and then swapped it back. The spring assembly holding the trigger is a little tricky, but again once you get used to it, its pretty simple. So I've only had the gun two weeks and already I'm pretty comfortable swapping the FCU, the mag release and the trigger. I love this gun.

For only having it for two weeks you got more done with your gun(s) they I have with mine since Ive owned it. I only managed a couple hundred rounds, no problems yet(knock on wood). I did manage to polish some of the parts of my gun, still more work I want to get done but not a whole lot of time to do it. Ive been busy prepairing my house for the winter. But hopefully soon Ill get some more feild time on my gun. You can see the pcs of what I got done in the 250 general section.

I think I'm gong to return the Baska Green Laser. The slide switch is a bit funky and only works about 70% of the time. If you want an inexpensive green laser for range practice or dry firing its fine, but I would not want my life dependent on it. Also you need an allen wrench to attach and I think I'd rather have a quick release. I'm thinking about the Sig STL 900L or the Glock GTL 22 (tac light with red laser). The reviews on the STL 900L seem mixed. Has anyone used the GTL 22 on the P250 ? (or do Sig fans not like to get their P250s "dirty" with Glock accessories?ThumbDown )

I received my P250C this week to go with my 2Sum. I was concerned about the FCU on P250C since Sig was upgrading the old style P250C my shop had with new style grip and new mags. It turns out the P250C had a manufacture date of Aug 2009 and an EAK serial number and the FCU was identical to the one in my April 2010 2Sum with the EAK serial # (including the extra tabs on the top back). So I was relieved because I want to swap my two FCU between my three frames and I didn't want to have two different style FCU's.

I put 50 rounds through the 250C out of the box (with factory grease and all). I had a couple of failure to feeds (FTF) on the first bullet in the mag, but I was trying to hand-rack, so that may have been operator error. If I racked before I put in the mag and then used the slide release it fed just fine. But as soon as I got home I stripped, cleaned, oiled and lubed to get rid of the factory grease. We'll see how it feeds next time.

As far as shooting, I'm not skilled enough to get 2-3" groups yet, but I tried the club shooting test (which you have to pass to take some of their advanced classes) and passed just fine with the out-of-the box P250C. (Its a human upper body silhouette with a 10.5x18" black area in the chest. At 7 yards you have to put 10 of 10 bullets in the black in under 30 seconds. I was able to do it in 17 seconds although I was concentrating on accuracy more than speed. It will be fun to see if I can get it down to 10 seconds or less.

Actually, when I took the Baska Laser off the gun the switch worked just fine, so something about the way I mounted it was causing it to bind. I remounted it and its working fine. So I'm keeping it (although I may still get a tac light/laser later).

Well, back to the range again and the Baska Laser started acting up. This time it would turn off while shooting. If I fiddled with the switch it would come back on. So I've returned it as defective and instead ordered the new Viridian C5L. This is an upgrade to the popular Viridian X5L, but shrunk down so it also fits compacts and subcompacts and with a bigger and better switch than the X5L. The jump in price was hefty ($89 to $289) but the Viridian C5L also has a TAC light with strobe. The laser and light features can all be enabled independently.

While the Baska Laser was working my shot groups on the P250F dropped from 8 inches to 3 inches, so it convinced me to spend the extra money to get a good laser. I'd like to learn to shoot that well with the manual sights, but one step at a time.
