I'm fairly new to handguns and joined a gun club recently to learn more. After renting about a dozen different guns and taking a couple classes I settled on the P250. I'm an engineer and loved the whole modular design. I also loved the simplicity of the P250 and I was the most accurate with it. I wanted a couple of guns to be able to take friends to the club and to have a nightstand gun and a carry gun. So I bought the P250 2Sum and ordered the P250 Compact, so I will have two FCUs and three frames and can configure any two guns I want for the moment (all 9mm to start). I've enjoyed shooting both the Full and Subcompact, and was surprised that the recoil on the Subcompact was not much more than the Full. In fact I think I was more accurate with the Subcompact on the first day. I can't wait to take all three to the range and try them out side-by-side. I've been shooting Speer Lawman FMJ ammo I got for $13/box from AmmoToGo and Federal FMJ from Walmart for $9.50/box and have not had a problem with either gun yet.
I also picked up the rail mount
Barska GLX Green Laser for about $90 and am impressed with it so far (for the price), although I have not tried it on the range yet. Just dry fired around the house and yard, but it seemed very well constructed and easy to operate and sight in.
I have a couple questions for you P250 old-timers:
1. The gun club had two P250Cs in stock but they were the old style and I wanted the new style to match my PSum guns. They contacted Sig, and Sig is sending them a new style grip and two new style mags to upgrade the gun they have in stock. My 2Sum is an EAK serial # and has the newer FCU with the tabs. Is there an interchangeability issue or performance issue if the P250C they upgrade has the older style FCU without the extra tabs?
2. I'm going to order some large grips for the Full Size gun for a friend that has large hands, but I would like to get those in Desert Camo, so I know at a glance what grips I have on the gun. Can the Camo grips be purchased anywhere? I can't seem to find them. Likewise when I decide to get .40cal exchange kit I will get those in Nickel since all my 9mm is Nitron and again I can tell at a glance what caliber I have on the gun (at least that is my plan--we will see what is available when the time comes).
Enjoying my new P250s. What a great concept and a great gun to shoot.
