I have a question about the prefix on my p250c in 9mm. In all the posts I have read on this and the SIG FORUM site people list their sn# as EAUXXXXXX. I was looking on my reciept from the gunshop and noticed that the sn# is listed as EAK00XXXX. I do not have the pistol on hand, as it is at an engraver having my name and department put on it. My question is three fold:
!. Did the gunshop make a mistake?
2. Do I have a different model?
3. Does anyone have this prefix on their 9mm compact?
Since I wont get physical control of the pistol until my retirement party in December I want to answer this before I buy magazines, holsters and other goodiesThumpUp saw 9mm 16 round mags on topgun supply for $36 @ SIG lists the same on their site as $45 @ ?????

it's possible the sn# might have been written down wrong but i wouldnt worry about it until you get to pick it up. then i'd want any paperwork correct for sure. if it is EAK00XXXX thats probably just a new run and would hopefully have any fixes or upgrades that might be needed over the EAU00xxx serial numbers. just a wild ass guess though. as far as mags and holsters i wouldnt sweat that either. the early 16 round had a few issues actually getting 16 rounds in them until they were good and broke in. mine took a while before i could easily get that last round in. i dont know the reason why sig went to 15 round mags but they did and TGS looks to have a pretty good supply of the 16 rounders. i'll take the ones from TGS all day long at $36 rather than the 15's from sig at $45. any other goodies you get like holsters should fit just fine, i havent seen any dimension changes on the sig site change for the 9mm sc.

Be careful buying magazines until you know which version you have. Sig released a newer P250 series and the old magazines will not fit it (and vice versa). If you want to be sure that you are purchasing the right magazines, etc. Call Sig and give them the serial number, they can tell you.

NM, just saw that this was an old thread.

When they come for my 6 shooter, they had better bring seven men.

Generally they change prefixes on the pistols when they do a design change. (easy way to tell for the CS dept)

The SIG Mosquito was the same way.

My guess is that they finally changed the prefix for the Gen2 guns when they ran out of Gen1 parts.

You can change the floor plate and still use the mags. Only difference is the floorplate.
