Many thanks to happy_gunner for selling me his 45acp compact conversion. Ran 100 rounds through it today. Had the slide stop come up on me a couple times and a couple hang ups in feeding, but I will clean and keep running it to see how it settles in.

Yes, I am right handed and have both thumbs on the left side of the firearm, right thumb above left.

I am not saying this is the case....... without actually watching you shoot ........but I don't like the thumbs forward grip because of the chance of "TOUCHING" the Slide lock Lever during recoil. Yes, ..........you need only touch or brush the lever lightly for it to send the pistol into Slide Lock.
I teach ............and have seen this happen countless times !! Usually the shooter will deny that they are touching the lever, until I video tape them and show them up close and personal.
Like I said ......this may or may not be the cause of the premature lock back of your Slide .......but something to keep an eye on ........or maybe one of your shooting buddies can watch your hand carefully while on the range.
I don't teach this grip because if it happens only once every thousand times you shoot ............ it could happen at the wrong time during a high stress situation .......... and you are DEAD.

Thanks sniper350 for the feedback. I am aware that touching the slide lock can happen as well and that is an excellent explantion of what may be happening. I haven't been to the range since the first 100 rounds, but will go soon and post any additional info as it comes up! Take care!

Ran another 70 rounds through the 45 cal conversion today. Ran 12 by 5 rounds each, and one full mag with 9 rounds and 1 in the tube. All 5 round runs were without incident. I had a incomplete feeding of round 3 in the mag fully loaded test. Overall very promising for breaking in a new firearm. I will continue and report.

Ran another 70 rounds through the 45 caliber conversion today, 9 rounds in the mag, one in the tube. No problems at all today! It appears the more I shoot it, the more reliable it gets!

I also soot with the thumb forward method and i do find myself not being able to lock the slide back when the magazine is empty. It just feels so comfortable and that's the way I have always shot my service M9. Oh by the way I cant seem to shoot single action at all anymore. last time I shot my M9 at the pistol range, I couldn't group at all in single action. As soon as we did the double action drills everything as alot better. unfortunately I went from pistol expert to sharpshooter. :( |

An update since my last post, I have run another 200 rounds through the 45acp P250c without a hitch and most importantly, qualified with it for off duty carry.

Great job! For your department, what is the qualifying requirement for off-duty carry?

30 rounds onto a B27 at 15 yards, scoring over 250.
Sig customer service really is excellent. I ordered 45acp compact mags, grip assembly and they were in stock and received quickly and in good order. My experience with Sig is and has been excellent!

Sig customer service delivers again! I just received my full size 45acp cal conversion and ran 50 through it with not one single problem. The full size has an all steel solid guide rod, that is necked- a pretty neat idea. Here's the photo of the full size slide on my compact frame.
