There is such a wealth of information about the 250 scattered over at sigforum, that I thought I would start pulling some of it over here. I'm afraid to violate anyone's copyrights, so I'm going to post links where I can, and paraphrase where the information is too diffuse across many posts.

The first one is detail stripping the 250. In layman's terms: Completely dissassembling the fire control mechanism for a good cleaning.

Thrak over at SIGForum did an outstanding job describing the process, with pictures. Link is here:

Also check out sigfreund's followup about re-compressing mainspring when reassembling the frame:

If you’re a member there, you may want to contact the person that started the thread and ask if it is okay to repost it here. That way all the info is right here. But links are good as well. Thanks for contributing!!

I'll go with links. I doubt there is any violation since the intent of the original post was to share information and experience.

Here is a link to illustrated instructions for slide disassembly.

I recently used them to replace my rear sight assembly when a tritium tube went dark.

Oh, awesome! I've been looking for that!

Thanks!

BTW, I guess anything beyond the basic field strip voids your warranty. So stripping the fire control mechanism or slide should only be done by a SIG certified armorer....blah blah blah...

Also, as part of the detail stripping process, I would recommend removing the magazine catch and spring per the manual and give them a good cleaning. Today I took mine out to fiddle with the spring tension (more on that in a future post), and they were filthy. I would probably clean these every other time I detail strip since the magazine catch stop is only a thin plastic clip. Not sure how many times it's going to tolerate being poked with a paper clip.

This is why I asked to have it replicated here, links change and some threads get deleted. Maybe someone can recreate it if they have the time.

Thanks Hawk for the reply. I am assuming that pushing out the sping pin (roll pin) will free up everything in the slide similar to the other P series pistols, the main difference being the P250 does not have a drop away action block like the other series slide designs..

Shane has an excellent photo treatise on the takedown and reassembly of the Fire Control Unit (FCU, and its posted earlier in this thread). I've followed it and after you've done it once, its pretty much easy to remember. The most difficult part is recompressing the two hammer springs for re-insertion of the pivot pin. Shane has an excellent tool that he made for doing this. I used my Glock Armorer tool to press the hammer springs down while I re-inserted the pins.

I have not seen one yet. I have removed the firing pin (the pin comes out through the top) but have not taken out the extractor parts.

If you find one please share.Smile
