I received my 40SW kit in the mail today and will report on it in the other forum, but was curious about the compatibility of the 357 and 40 uppers...

1. I see a lot of retailers advertise the magazines for the 40SW as '40/357 mags.' Can they be used interchangeably or is it just because they haven't had full production of the 357SIG kits/magazines yet? Part of me says no because of the differences in the follower in Glock magazines I'm familiar with, but maybe Sig came up with something new...

2. Can I buy a 357SIG barrel and put it the 40SW upper? If they don't make a 357 barrel for the 250, are other 357 barrels from other pistol series compatible? I haven't checked out the dimensions of other barrels or the difference between the 9 and 40 barrels I have yet.

I was going to ask a Sig rep about this but when I called today I never made it past number 6.

I'm excited about shooting the 40. I got it from a regional dealer, good price, minimal wait, and shipped to my door.

there aren't any .357 barrels or conversion kits out there yet as far as i know. rumor has it that all it will take is a new barrel and maybe a recoil spring to convert over on a .40 upper but since there's nothing out there officially from sig we just don't know for sure. a call to sig may be the only way to get an answer until the 357 hits the streets. i've had the .40 conversion kit for a while and i'm really itching to try it in a .357

Do you like the 40? I'm on my way out to try mine out. I looked at the other 357 models and it looks like the 226 and 239 (I think) have barrel sizes that are similar. Tom from Top Gun said the 40 and 357 mags are identical and the only difference is the wording on the mags - 40SW vs 357SIG. I think it would just be pretty cool to swap a barrel out and get another caliber out of it. And maybe a 10mm or 22LR would round out my wants.

SIG mags are interchangeable, but the 40cals seems to work better in both 357 and 40.

SIG still does not have a 22 X Change for the P250 ... yet.

Currently, 2SUMs are available in only 9mm and 40cal.

Your best bet is to:
........... get a P250 Compact in either 40cal or 357 SIG;
............ get the 40cal 2SUM40;
............ and get 357 barrels from SIG, or aftermarket.
