I recently bought a koraynovich arms Ak-47 and I've noticed after about 100- 140 rds as fast as I can the wood grip gets unbearably hot and the metal barrel is crazy hot. Is this all Ak-47s or do I just have a poor brand or all Aks? If it is a poor brand is there any suggestions of better brands? Anyone who owns an Ak please comment. Laugh

I have a Norinco, (Chinese) AK47, it hasn't heated up like that, but thats more like FPF firing anyway. Not the way the military is tought to fire.... unless its, as I said, Final Protective Fires. Ya know, your position is being over run and then who gives a S**t if you over heat the barrel and don't abide by the 3-5 rd bursts.

I have a Romanian AK and the wood got very hot on the fore grip. I replaced the wood with polymer and haven't had an issue with heat or any kind......(never had any issues other then a warm hand) Ak's are good fun IMO

Thanks

I got tired of the original stain on this one so I striped the old stain off and dyed the wood black, sealed it with a good semi-gloss poly. I like it, its diffrent from my other ones. But I just picked up some non-skid paint additive for the deck surface of a motorcycle trailer I'm building and am thinking that a textured surface might look interesting. I like practicing with this one, its the lests expencive one I have.

Semiautomatic Kalashnikoff type carbines are fun and robust. They just keep on going. Keep them clean and oiled.

My first AK is a Chinese. I replaced the stock with a fiberglass stock and plastic fore end. They will get hot if you shoot a lot on a hot day. The original wood grips have little ventilation and can actually char or catch on fire. The fiberglass stock and plastic ventilated fore end really help. Mine had a lot of sharp edges. I filed them all off, and blued them.

They aren't accurate enough to be any kind of sniper rifle. Putting a scope on one is almost ridiculous. A red dot sight is possible. When I loaded nice 7.62 x 39 ammo with new components, it does not tighten groups very much. The ballistics of the cartridge are limiting. I have never taken the trigger group apart. It has always worked fine. Why mess with it. The trigger is terrible, it just works every time. Learn how to use it, and any regular rifle will be no trouble at all.

Would be a great rifle for hunting deer in deep woods. Handy, light, enough power for that job.
