So, I was close to buying a 9mm P250, but mine has not been as trouble free as I would like Cursing. Anyway, rather than stick with the same platform, I've decided to try something else. I just don't know what, and want to get some opinions. Here's a list of things I'm considering, as well as those I've absolutely ruled out. Also, I'm always open to new suggestions. Anyway, here goes:

M&P 45: nice ergos and feel, I prefer 45acp, manual safety option(my preference on single action guns)
FNP 45: 14 rounds of 45Woot, great reviews, also nice ergos and feel, kinda on the large side, DA/SA
PX4 9mm: Unique design and function, feels preatty good in the hand, 17+1, DA/SA
Beretta 92-A1; Update on the classic & proven design, 17+1, DA/SA, fits my hand very nicely, Not too crazy about the placement of the safety.
Glocks, XDs, SR9: they're out, I prefer the M&P
1911s: Love the style, but they're overpriced

Walther PK380: This one is a little out there for me. I usually don't consider anything smaller than a 9mm. But, it's priced right for a nice gun that's easy to carry.

So, give me your opinions on these and also those I've left out.

I know you said the XD was out, but I love shooting that gun. Mine is a 9mm. Reliability? Got it. Durability? over 500 out of the box, put the last hundred or so pretty much as fast as I could and did great. The guns platform is super simple and easy to take care of. Not to mention its now at prices from 460-540, so the price is worth it for this go to gun. Comes with 2 magazines, a holster, a mag pouch, and speed loader. I feel extremely comfortable with it and would recommend it to anyone. I was also looking at the M&P, its newer model, away form SW revolver style, and didnt read too many reviews about it. For me it came down to price and personal opinion. The MP is a great gun, but the xd is my go to gun.

I'd go with the FNP45 tacticooled out or a P226 Tac Ops, for a little less $$ try SCT. PK 380 are ideal as a small carry. I have an M&P40fs, personally the ergos on the P250 are better, but the M&P is super reliable and once the trigger/sear is done its great.

That depends. If you want an accurate reliable 1911 they can be had for $450 new. RIA has been putting out some good products for that price (and even less). You could also get into a nice used Springer for about that too.

I wouldn't count out the 1911, if it were me.

I've always been interested in RIA 1911s, and more recently an import known as Citadel. My only problem is that one of my requirements is a picatinny rail - my wife is much more comfortable with a laser sight. I should also mention my price cap is around $600.00. So, that does limit my options. But, a surpise at my local "fun shop" has me very interested. It's a CZ P07 Duty. Seems very nice; perfect size, good capacity, feels very nice, and priced very reasonably. Has moved to the top of my list.
