I just got in my Sig P250 in 9mm-Comact digital with threaded barrel.

The unit is the OLD model, and after reading some of the posts here I am wondering if I did the right thing.
I will be taking to the range friday to try her out a bit.

Previous owner says he only ran 1 mag thru it, and based on the inside of the gun I tend to believe him

Gun came with one mag and no disassembly instructions. I looked at Top Gun Supply and they are out of the old style mags right now.

Any suggestions of things I should do or not do at the range tomorrow ????Blink

Just that the thing shoots best if you don't try to stage the trigger and anticipate the trigger break. Just pull all the way through it. Alot like a DA revolver only without any stacking. Out side of scarfing up all the mags you can I certianly wouldn't worry about it having the 1st gen. grip shell.

If he only ran one mag through it I'm wondering if it was ever cleaned. You might want to clean out any factory grease, re-oil moving parts and lube the rails. Mine P250 was a little sluggish out of the box, but felt smoother after an oil and lube job. But if you don't have cleaning stuff yet, just go shoot it and see how it runs.

when you say "stage the trigger" do you mean pull the trigger back a ways, then stop just before the hammer falls....then pull the rest of the way to fire...???

The FCU still has white grease in it. It was never cleaned before or after shooting from what I can tell.

I am new to this Sig and pistols in general....my love has been ARs and MGs. The last time I shot a pitol was about 11 yrs ago and that was an old Hi Power Browning that I blew the barrel due to a squib round (((

Any guidance on stripping and proper lubing of this thing would be appreciated.

When your at the range, dont shoot your eye out. Break down is simple you can find threads here or you ca YOUTUBE Sig P250 breack down. As far as the lithium grease (white grease in FCU) get an old cloth and wipe it out, thats what I did.

Try GregCoteLL.con for the mags-he's really good and should have the ones you are looking for if not he can probably get them. Get used to the combat sights and practice dry firing. Since the pistol is new to you, you can train your trigger finger well. Get one of those target charts to help you realize what you are doing wrong, if you start getting flyers. Most people tend to shoot low, its all because they are anticipating the shot and breaking thier wrist down. This gun will teach you to shoot well. Stick with it and practice a bit. The trigger control and smoothness you learn from shooting the P250 will make you an ace with any other handgun. I'm not saying its an unforgiving gun, but IMHO learning how to shoot a DAO has helped me shoot better. Have fun.

Since you are new to hand guns (like me) you might want to pick up an inexpensive cleaning kit. I bought the Gun Slick Roll-up Kit for $24. Its small enough to fit in a gun bag and you can roll it out on the kitchen table and have everything you need to clean your gun in one spot. This one includes a small bottle of gun cleaning fluid and gun oil which many kits do not. The only other thing you need is some light rail grease. There are lots of brands but I'm using the Brian Enos Slide-Glide Lite. Check YouTube for some short video instruction on how to clean you handgun and check the maintenance links on this forum for how to strip. I would NOT break down the FCU at this point, just clean it with rags or Q-Tips.

Range report

I got out to the range with the gun and ran about 100 rounds thru it with out any problem...

I did end up missing the target a lot at first, but did start to get on the paper afer a bit.

Unfortunately, I started by shooting my old Hi Power, that just got a new EFK Firedragon barrel.....on the first mag I had a jam, where the slide is 3/4 of the way back and stuck with the round showing...don't know if it is a live round or not...got it home "carefully"

So, after being frustrated by that episode, I went to shoot the Sig and was happy that I had no problems with the ammo in that gun :))

Good to hear. Sig didnt give themselves the slogan "to hell and back reliability" for nothing. If your not use to shooting a DAO trigger it gets alittle tricky in the beginning. Slow smooth steady pulls it all it take to get use to after that youll be ripping them off like crazy!!

Well, thanks to all.

I will be out of town for a while, but will take the Sig out again probably in a month (and I will not bring the High Power)

I will report back after I have shot it some more
