I've been working on this little cottage for the wife. She wanted a potting shed & once I got my hands on the project it went in a totally diffrent direction.....with my wife excited and on board.
She wanted a place to do her own thing. I still have a bit of finish work & touch ups but its getting there.
Yesterday I finished the rolling ladder, kind of a cross between a library & hay loft ladder. But at least she can get up into the loft and get to her scrap booking stuff.Blushing

I weld for a living, metal is easy to fix for me. Wood on the other hand is not my thing, my father in law is really good with wood. He built his own house. Anyone with that kind of tallent deserves a big kudos!!!!!

Good job Grumpy!! It looks great!

My lady would love to have a scrap booking cottage. I better not let her see this.

You should look at getting a subscription to Fine Woodworking magazine. Lots of cool tips and they explain how to do things the "old way" using only hand tools. It makes for a ton more work, but that much more appreciation too. Some of the stuff they do you just want to cuss and say, "give me a break, just cut that on a damn table saw!".

I use to watch that show with my dad when I was younger. Norm Abrahms is a master with wood. Thats a killer job that you did. I always wanted to have a talent to build things with wood. But like I said before, metal is my thing. My father in law tells me it takes practice, but everytime I touch wood, its a scary sight to see.

I can give you a tip when welding, samething my freind to ld me when I couldnt get the weld to look right. Dont try too hard when welding, just do it. Lower the heat and the wire till you feel comfortable then turn up little by little and youll be fine. I build tractor loaders, buckets, frames, ect. for Kubota. A freind of mine use to work in the engeinering department. He rode Harleys and built them to. He would make all kinds of parts for his bike on the lathe. That was fun to wacth, that where you can make you money and lots of parts.

Love it GB. Takes some real motivation to get a man off his ass long enough to knock that bad boy out. Hell of a job!
