p250 compact original vs new magazine

I have a p250 compact .40, the original grip style. If I buy mags for the new style, SIG says they
will not fit my original frame.
What if I swap out the mag floor plates, will they fit?


Anyone try this yet? Are the mags the same exact size other than floor plate style?
