Here's some rounds you should look for.

Speer Gold Dot 124 Gr. +P

Speer Gold Dot 147 Gr.

Winchester Ranger SXT 127 Gr. +P+

Winchester Ranger SXT 147 Gr.

Federal HST 147 Gr.

Note: the Winchester Ranger SXT is same bullet as the Black Talon, the one's on the market today are the most modern up to date design. It is said that the Winchester PDX1 is the same bullet as the Winchester Ranger Bonded.

I agree. I love the Rangers. Especially after I tested them out for my self. I carry either Rangers or Rem. Gold Sabres.

Before.....

and after......

These are all three (in .45 and .40) I played with. From left to right, Gold Sabre 180gr .40, Ranger 230gr .45, and Hornady XTP 230gr.

The only SXT i have right now are the old 147 Gr., when they first went law enforcement only, i have two boxes of those and consider them collectors items.

I have two boxes of the 127 Gr. +P+, but id rather have the 147 Gr., but today you get what you can get.

My 250 had a front sight miss alignment when I bought it so I sent it back and they centered it. The test target they gave me after they sighted it it was almost a single hole at 15 yrds! All holes were touching or overlapping each other. They used Speer Gold Dot 124 Gr. +p. That round can be found nowhere! I go to 3 store around here and they do not carry that round.
Anyone know were it can be bought???

I can get gold dots just about anywhere here in GA. Have you tried searching on Midway or brownells?

Thanks,

I'll look at those venders.

I also just found them for sale at GAmmo.com.
They have the standard version for $25.00 per 50 rnd count. Not bad but I guess I will spend the extra on the +P for my 2 mags and maybe a couple of 50 rnd boxes for the range.

I've been searching the web for self defense ammo info and I found the article he is referring to:

http://www.chuckhawks.com/ammo_by_anonymous.htm

The article is old...2006, and its origins and author are not known, per the publisher.

I'm still looking for a good 9mm SD load for home defense in my P250, if anyone else has recommendations or preferences.

I prefer Federal JHP Hydrashok 147gr 9mm, and Remington Golden Sabre Brass JHP 124gr 9mm+P. I keep a magazine of the Hydrashok in my p250c9mm and a magazine of Golden Sabre in the holster mag pocket. 30 rounds ready to go!

Check out sgammo. You can get a box of 50 (yes, 50) Speer Gold Dot 115g, or 124g +p for under $25 (although they are out of stock ATM). They've got most of the other names in SD ammo as well - Hydra Shok, Lawman, Ranger, Critical Defense, Golden Saber...but not Cor-Bon. For that, I go to MidwayUSA.
