I am normally a lurker, but today I wanted to post my initial impressions of my new P250C. WARNING: These are my opinions and they do not express or portray the feelings of anyone else.

Today I became the proud owner of a new Sig Sauer P250C two-tone chambered in 40S&W. I want to say thank you to Jerry Brown at Ordnance Outsellers for his great customer service and his time and patience dealing with me (I am not an easy person to please or deal with at times……just ask my wife). Jerry went out of his way to make sure I got everything I needed. I am a Deputy Sheriff, so Jerry made sure I got three magazines instead of the single magazine which I know is an issue for many people right now. Jerry is the type of person and businessman that will not carry something for the sake of carrying it just to get business. He is a man of convictions. I can’t say enough good things about Jerry and Ordnance Outsellers and I would recommend him to anyone.

Ok, now to the nitty gritty. These are my subjective opinions and feelings so take it for what it is worth. When I got home I took a few minutes to evaluate the pistol based upon what I saw and felt. The grip module is size medium in the compact configuration. It felt like my P228 in my hand. That is a good start. The spring tension of the recoil spring was very strong, even stronger than my Glock Model 22 and a Heckler & Koch USP that I used to own. The magazine dropped free. As with any Tupperware pistol (my term for any polymer framed pistol) the magazine well sounds really hollow. The fit and finish of the metal parts was good and I did not really see or find any tooling marks or blemishes. The polymer frame looked to be free of any defect or crack. The rifling in the barrel was clear and crisp and I did not see any anomalies in the barrel. The recoil spring was the painted blue variety and I do not know about you, but I like the Sig Sauer braided recoil springs, but I am odd that way. The recoil rod was the Sig Sauer typical hollow tube. The firing pin release was a small push button at the rear of the slide and it did not take much effort to depress it. In comparison, the firing pin block on my P228 went the full width of the slide and takes more effort to depress. The firing pin pushed forward like it was supposed to after I depressed the firing pin block. Toothpicks come in handy for this and that was all I had at my disposal at the time. Then, following the directions in the owner’s manual, I took the fire control/trigger control unit out of the frame. The frame felt really hollow at tat point. The trigger was a little gritty and the extractor was dirty I am assuming from the test rounds at the factory. The pistol came very well lubed and also had a sample of TW25B grease in the case with it. That is my new lubricant for all my pistols now. Uniformity works for me (I am in Law Enforcement and keeping it simple is key). The night sights are very bright and the typical three green dots. When I was examining the sights, it looks as though the rear sights are an integral unit with the firing pin stop. If I am wrong, someone please correct me. If you are familiar with a M1911, you depress the firing pin and slide the firing pin stop out of the slide. In the case of the P250, it looks as though the rear sights/firing pin stop are a press in unit that press in from the top. Less parts to be fitted and to deal with and also saves time and money I am assuming. I reassembled the pistol, placed it back in its plastic bag, and put everything back in the case until I do a thorough cleaning and lubing before range day. Over all I am pleased with the pistol.

I am happy with my purchase. The P250 is to pistols like the AR-15 is to rifles. It has something for everyone once they can get all components to the market place. You can tell that the P250 is a Sig and where it draws its design features come from. Its lineage is very apparent. But, by the same token, it is very different from the Sig P210, the classic series and the SigPro 2009/2340 & 2022. Comparing the P250 to its family members is like comparing apples to oranges. Even the SigPro series was treated as an outcast by many. The SigPro was what I was looking for until I stumbled onto the P250. Everyone has a different opinion and I do not expect everyone to agree with mine. I hope the P250 lives up to my expectations, but for now the jury is still out. It does not look glamorous, glitzy, posh, or any other BBQ gun analogy. The P250 is not a status symbol pistol either. It is designed to be a military and law enforcement pistol with combat accuracy to be able to hit minute of felon out to 25 yards or 25 meters. If you want status or something to show off, go get yourself a high end M1911 that costs between $2000-$3000 or a Korth revolver for $5000. To me, it is not case of keeping up with the Jones’. I just want to enjoy myself and enjoy my pistols because I am a pistol junkie. This is my $0.02. Be safe and take care everyone.

Congrats on the purchase!! Keep us informed. You say the recoil spring is blued. Mine is not and looks to be bare metal. Can you post a pic?

Sorry for the confusion Hawk. Let me clarify. The recoil spring is painted a light blue color half way down its length from the barrel lugs mid way down and the rest of the distance is bare metal color. I saw reference to the "blue recoil spring" on Sig Forum, so I made sure to mention it in my review.

Nice write up Tackleberry. It is nice to hear unbiased opinions from law enforcement personnel who have purchased the same gun that I chose for my daily carry. Thank you for your service by the way!
I cannot wait to hear how your range time goes. Did yours come with the new style grip or the old style grip (new grip has a true M1913 “Picatinny” rail)? I purchased mine in early December 09 and it has the old style grip and a braided recoil spring.

I have put approximately 200 rounds through mine. I can say for sure that I need practice with the DAO trigger. I am spot on accurate with my wife’s Smith & Wesson M&P 9 compact and my friends Glock 22, but I am less than stellar with my P250. I have always heard about Sig accuracy, but I have not managed to meet my own expectations…yet. I will post my issue in the Issues - .40 thread.

Thanks for the writeup! Yes the rear sight also houses the firing pin plunger/safety stop.

New to the site and admit I have not read every forum. Here's my dilemma, I ordered a P250 (.40 cal) nearly a month ago. My gun dealer "says" the gun I ordered should be available after the 1st of the year according to Sig. He also says he's been waiting for 6 months for other guns from Sig and they keep telling him it will be out next month. He's a straight shooter and a reputable dealer, haven't heard a bad word to suggest he's lying. Anyone heard of this back logs at Sig?

Yes, it's SHOT show right now, and all the gun manufacturers are slammed, plus Sig has been backed up for some time. The delay sounds frustrating, but I think your dealer is being square with you. Hopefully, Sig will get it together and catch up with getting the 250s out soon with all the kits now that the buying frenzy sparked by Obama's election is dieing down!
