What does a short trigger do for you?

I have medium to small hands so the regular frame on the 250, along with the regular trigger is a bit of a reach. My finger reaches the trigger but just the pad of the finger, not the joint which is ideal for DA trigger pulls. I never really worried about this with my 229 because I figured every other trigger pull will be the shorter single action.

Anyway, I really like the feel of the larger grip but I now have the smallest grip in order to properly index the trigger. If I get the short trigger, besides the obvious shorter trigger reach, I heard it can also help in the re set of the trigger? Does it and if so, how?

Also, can I install it myself or would I need to send it off to SIG to do it?

I will let you know soon. I had to send my .45 back (small issue) and I am having the short trigger installed. The Sig Rep I talked to said it should be done at the factory. I have smaller hands too and I hope it helps. Also, have you handled the Mendium frame? It may help.

I really don't want to send my gun back to get it installed but I guess I will at some point. The funny thing is, I have the smaller grip and it works great but I like the feel of the medium grip. It just fills my hand and I feel as though I have better control on recoil. So, I thought the winning combination would be the middle medium frame with the short trigger.

Let me know how you like it.
Thanks

I found with the med grip and short trigger I get a good fit. The reg trigger was just a little to much. I installed it myself in just a few minuets and would not see why you would need to send it back to Sig for this. Shane has a great picture layout of the FCU unit that helped me put the unit back together for the first time over in the 9mm Maintenance thread

The day I bought the 250 I got all excited about how it broke down. When I took the trigger mechinism out, the spring below the hammer flew across the room. Then the trigger and a bunch of other parts just fell to the table. After about 30 minutes I had it back together. I could have done it my self but since I had to send it back I thought I would just make sure everything was 100%. Also, not that this matters much because the trigger isn't too tough to change, but the Sig Rep I talked to said it would void the warranty. I don't think you could get it back together wrong to where it would damage the gun so it should be a non issue.

Wow! That is not the first time I hear of that happening. I guess I'm lucky it did not happen to me. I think SIG should put a word of caution for the danger of that happening.

UPDATE!!!

Two weeks to the day I have my P250 back. Had them adjust the slide (slide was closing when I insert a full mag) and install the short trigger.

The short trigger was not the drastic change I expected. I appears that it shortened the travel by 1/4". Not much but every little bit helps when you have small hands. I will get it to the range this weekend and give more feedback.

I also want to say that I am VERY happy with the service at Sig. I sent the gun back with out the case (was CCWing the Sig the day I got fed up and shipped it out) and they put it in a new blue case, newer than the one that I bought it in. They also sent back the original trigger. To top it all off they did it at NO CHARGE!!!!! Before I sent it back, I talked to the rep on the phone he said the trigger installed was $79. Sig, if you are reading this, the P250 will not be my last Sig purchase.

Bought the short trigger and small grip for my 250c so that it would fit the wife's hands better. The trigger was a piece of cake to swap out, and I found that combined with the small grip frame that it is noticeably smaller. Felt like I was holding a P22. I know a lot of folks who don't own this gun think that different sized grips frames and triggers are a gimmick, but I find it to be very versatile. Now hopefully she won't like shooting it so that i can return it to the normal sized gun that it started life as!Cool

i was looking at my lower, how can you tell what size it is? is there a marking S, M, L, XL Laugh ? bought it new so i assume it is the medium. does the smaller frame make it easier to conceal? i imagine that it would, possilbly a few grams lighter also.
