UPS tracking shows my 40 kit is on schedule to be delivered Monday morning so i'm asking anybody out there with a 40 already what practice ammo you are using and any issues you might have had with any paticular brand.

i tried several brands of good stuff yesterday and happy to report it all worked flawlessly. speer gold dot le 155/165/180gr, federal hst le 155/165/180gr and winchester ranget t's le 165/180gr and all functions perfect. the 180gr stuff was a little easier to shoot, the light stuff kicked like a pissed off mule. i'm not sure what i want to leave in it for self/home defense but i'm leaning towards the 180gr stuff. i need to study up on my balistic charts to see which one should have the best penetration.

Good to know. Thanks for the post. Maybe one day I will get the .40 kit. But I'm eyeing that .22 rifle Sig is coming out with.

Been using Blazer TMJ w/alum cases and Remington brass case FMJ during the "break in".
Consider both to be discount ammo.
Run about 150 JHP's thru to be sure there were no problems
Had a few FTF in the first 20 rounds. One FTF about 100 rnds later.
No failures since. Probably between 750 and 1000 rnds now.

Clean well after each session with Rem Oil and Clenzoil.

Ready to use as my CC along with the P6

Feel confident with my P250

I am having trouble finding .40 around Austin. A guy at work found an Academy that had a box of Remington UMC box of 250 for $80 but when I went they were out. I got some 180 grain hollow points from Cabela's website for about $25 for box of 25. Great for that intruder killin' but a little much for putting holes in paper. Anybody have a good website or reloader? Saxet gun shows comes to town once a month but is a little crowded for my taste.

everything is in short supply right now. i don't have any range ammo and haven't seen any in a couple months that i could afford. there is lots of stuff on gunbroker but it's a twice the normal price or more. so i wait until things come back down a little.

I'd visit your local gun show. I live in Raleigh, NC and have the privelege of being able to buy reloads from a guy who makes a really nice round. Worth a try, especially with the irrational costs and scarcity.

I've got the .40 kit too, just took out to the range for the 2nd time now. I did have a couple FTF issues, but it was very minor compared to my previous range visit. The issue with the mags dropping have pretty much gone away, I think I just needed to wear them in a little.

I posted a thread on it a while back in the Off Topic area. They were suppose to be out in May, but I have not seen it yet. Of course, I have not checked in a while either.

Shoot what you carry. Then there Isn't any surprises. what is your life worth.. Think on that comment.

Sure it cost more, but as I said above...

Hey man, theres a great ammo website based right around the corner from you. ammotogo.com I would order my ammo from them personally but i pay more for shipping to Alaska then the bullets. I believe they are based out of Texas and will deliver to your door. they carry any kind of ammo you can imagine. good luck

I should have my new .40sw conversion kit in a few days so I have been checking around for ammo and so far, for range ammo I am leaning toward the federal champion series that you should be able to get at Wally world for about $15 / 50rds. I use their 9mm ammo and that runs me under $11 per box of 50rds. Fired about 400 rds of 9mm with no issues at all and it's a pretty clean round. PMC has been pretty good for me for range and is about the same price point. Just my 2cents...

The guys at the gun store gave me a box of MagTech when I bought the P250C; first round was a FTL. Only 1 so it was probably me.
I have a friend that reloads. His ammo is good and he's local and reasonable. When I can't get his ammo, I'll use the Federal White Box. It all shoots fine.
