cowpie, it took me a 2nd glance at your avatar to catch the "pi" and put it together, nice.
I can remember the first time I field stripped my 1911 and my Ruger Mark II, it was all I could do to get past the "remove the grips" stage but after a few times of taking it slow and finding some really, really good schematics and explanations, they are both 2nd nature. They can really be intimidating but articles like that by Grumpybiker really make it less intimidating. Just take it slow and watch what you're doing. If you have a digital camera, it may even help you to take pics of what you are doing; especially if you get into a touchy spot, take a pic or 2 and write a little explanation detailing what you are doing. Just don't do more than you are ready for at the moment and you'll be fine.
