I recently found a really good deal at my local gander mountain. they had bluedot marked down to $15 per pound which isnt normal for my area at least. so i picked up a couple of pounds and realized that it isnt easy to find a recipe for. I finally came across nosler using bluedot for 115gr 9mm so I've been running with it. I am currently using winchester small pistol primers with 7.6gr of bluedot behind a 115gr barrys plated bullet. So far my testing has gone very well with this combination with the exception of my winchester primers not seating all the way (I have never had this problem with cci or federal primers but have been having the issue with the winchesters on numerous accounts from multiple lots).

So since I have been using this recipe its had me wondering if anyone else uses it for reloading 9mm? I know its not the best powder to use for 9mm so I don't really need people saying I should use something else but I have noticed that with every one I've tested I havent had unburnt powder and my velocity and accuracy with it has been pretty good. nosler calls for 7.5-8.5gr of bluedot when using it and I am seating at 1.11 OAL.


feel free to chime in and talk about what you are using for 9mm reloading on here as well. I noticed the reloading section has been dead for some time now so I figured I would try and bring a little bit of life back into it.

It is good to see a fellow reloader in the community finally. I have been using blue dot for 115gr, 124gr, and 147gr XTPs but have just switched over to starting to use titegroup for 115gr hi-tek coated lead bullets from bayou as its much cheaper to reload. im currently running them at 4.2gr with an OAL of 1.100 +-.005 and am seeing great results from it but haven't been able to find a good load for 124gr hi-tek coated lead. I was going to buy a copy of lyman's 48th edition but they are sold out at all local stores currently so I am probably going to have to order one.

I wasn't able to find a downloadable version from the lyman website. I usually use the pdf version on j-how but my macbook and iphone wouldn't pull it up for some reason. now that I am on my work computer I am able to see that there aren't any specs in lyman for 124gr but are for 120gr and 147gr lead thats made with #2 alloy. it appears that 120gr lead pills takes a starting load of 3.2gr and a max of 3.8gr with titegroup and 147gr lead pills take a starting load of 2.5gr with a max of 2.8gr of titegroup. with 115gr i've been running 4.2gr titegroup after workup. the starting load for 115gr lead pills is 3.9 with a max of 4.3 according to the hodgdon reloading site. 115gr OAL at 1.100, 120gr OAL at 1.065, and 147gr OAL at 1.058. I will probably order some 120gr pills and try them out since there isn't a designation for 124gr and I will let you know what I think. between those specs listed above for the 120gr pills i should be getting between 1100 and 1200 fps. It all makes sense now as to why nobody has information for 124gr pills specifically.

you should check out bayou bullets if you don't want to have to worry about leading. Not sure if you cast your own bullets or not but they use hi-tek coating on all of their lead bullets and it has completely prevent all leading from cartridges i've shot that were under 1200fps. using titegroup with 115gr pills you get somewhere between 1000 and 1160 fps through a 4" barrel if your following start load to max load of 3.9 to 4.3. If i dial it in to 4.1 or 4.2 grains its pushing about 1130 out of a 4.5" barrel which is the what I try to load at. I have a buddy that gave me some of the bayous he loaded to try out and after chronoing them at 1130 average i cleaned my bore after shooting about 100 and didn't have any leading at all.
